Congratulations on the image, it was greatly appreciated appreciated by those of us who are aware of "Corona" beer !

When you post "parallel view" "Side By Side" ("SBS") images why not post corresponding "cross view" SBS images as well.

It took about 30 seconds using "Stereo Photo Maker" ("SPM") to "Screen Grab" the original (parallel view, SBS) image, convert it to JPEG and store it and then with a single click convert it to a "cross view" SBS and store it.

With thumbnail images in blogs where you are not too preoccupied with resolution why not use JPEG rather than any other graphic format, just about any software which has anything to do with images can read JPEG, after all it is an INTERNATIONAL standard !

Then BOTH the "parallel view" JPEG SBS  images AND "cross view" SBS JPEG images were appended.

Re: Stereopix.net: sView plugin

Is there a way to just click on an image in Stereopix and have it open in Sview without download?

Yes, it is the way the plugin is supposed to work.
The browser downloads the image and give the path on your computer to the plugin which displays it directly inside the page.
Here, the plugin says that the path given is not valid.

I just checked that the jpg image is correctly generated.

I do not remember having this kind of error on my test system, but I will have a look when I have access to it.

Also, is there a way to play a slideshow images in a local folder  (not on Stereopix) on the computer with Sview?  I didn't see a slideshow option.

In Help>Hotkeys you can see that the hotkey is space.
In Help>Settings you can set the delay
The slideshow is done with the images loaded in the playlist.

It would be better with an optical viewfinder...

Well I must be doing something wrong.  Advice welcome.  I installed SView on my computer.  I have Firefox ESR 52.1.2 (32-bit).   From Firiefox Add-ins I can see the Sview plug-in and I set it to always active.

In Stereopix I saw and selected the SView viewing option.  When I click on an image in Stereopix I do not see the image in stereo.  I don't see the image at all.  I just see the follow error (has some specifics for the image I was trying to open)
Inline image

When I installed SView I un-selected file associations with mpo, jps etc image types.  Perhaps this is the problem.

If I choose to download the image I can view in Sview (after setting up to use Sview to open).

Is there a way to just click on an image in Stereopix and have it open in Sview without download?

Changing The Subject

People are freaking out over the You-Know-What, so I'm going to change the subject.

I'm going to a park to shoot a 3D video with a 1 second time-lapse, then time-stretch it back to real time.

Hope this helps.

Why would samsung put out a premium camera image that looks too suspiciously like an nx300 with a 20-50 lower quality lens attached? Unless it's April fools Day 🙂

From a quick glance this Appears to be a stereo system with option to add a third camera for simultaneous infra-red and visible light. And it could be yours for just $455,000 US !  Do you Suppose cameras are he locked at this price??

Re: COVID-19 Apocalypse Time-Lapse With 2x Time-Stretch

Someone accused me of joking about COVID-19. Do you think I would use the word "apocalypse" in the title if I were joking?
Maybe they should Google that word.
Unlike Donald Trump, I'm not an overly-optimistic cheer-leader.
I'm a realist.
So, I make 3D videos about reality.

I think that tricking sView with the workaround was a great idea and it seems to work perfectly.

It's a short-term solution, but not really satisfying.

Stereopix.net: Happy birthday

JackDesBwa|3D

Hi,

On the April 1st, 2019 [no joke] I wrote the first lines of code for Stereopix.
I started by some proofs of concept to check if I would be able to display in different formats and how to show a nice list of thumbnails. The code was improved a lot, but a large part of what I did in early April 2019 is still used today.
It took a few months [on spare time] to have something barely usable and to install everything on the server so that the first "somewhat usable" version was really online in early July 2019. It really took off after a laconic message of Mike Bittner on this mailing list the January 17th, 2020.

By the way, if you want to help for the rent of the server, it is a good timing because it is due in a few weeks for getting Stereopix online for the next year.
The link to the tip platform is on the login page for example (or photolab page if you are connected).
Please, tip only if you can afford it: the project is not fully sustained yet, but there is no urge because I can complement for the moment.

For this anniversary, let's share some usage data.

Here is the amount of data shared on the platform by day.
Each dot represents the number of data added to the platform by day in a logarithmic scale.
It can be a new photo, a comment on a photo, adding a photo to an album or highlighting a photo. The actions that were deleted are not counted here.
activity.png

Here is the amount of data served by the server.
A hit is a URL asked to the server (it may be a page, a photo, a script and so on).
It does not necessary correspond to all the actual views because some documents are cached in the browser of the visitors and those browsers are allowed to not ask for the resource again if they already know it.
A visit is considered as a group of hits sharing the same IP address and same browser the same day.
graph1.png
However, a lot of robot are crawling the Internet.
For example, the search engine websites use robots to index the pages (I saw Google, Bing, Yandex, Qwant... in the logs)
By trying to remove them, we got more accurate data for real usage as shown in the next image.
graph2.png

We can "zoom" on the active part between the January 17th and today (without crawler robots).
On average on this period, there are 3342 documents loaded per day.
Since the images already viewed are most of the time not loaded every time, the average is "only" of 100MB per day.

To finish, here is the geographical spread of the visitors based on their IP (not highly reliable though):

Re: COVID-19 Apocalypse Time-Lapse With 2x Time-Stretch

FYI...

The original 30fps video, recorded with a time-lapse of 1 second, was 21 seconds in duration.
I time-stretched it to 84 seconds in duration.
I then time-stretched that version to 151 seconds in duration.

Hope this helps.

I installed Firefox 52ESR on Win 7 (so I wouldn't mess up my Firefox on Win 10) so now I can confirm that Stereopix works great for me with the sView plugin in IE and in Firefox ESR. I think that tricking sView with the workaround was a great idea and it seems to work perfectly.
